I researched further.
• Average US doctor visit: 15.3 minutes
• Most patients are interrupted in the first 23 seconds
• 3 in 5 patients say their doctors are rushing exams
• 43% of Americans are unsatisfied with the medical system
What began as a language translation challenge quickly revealed a deeper issue: communication breakdowns were systemic, not linguistic.
Medgenda helps patients prepare for appointments by recording their key concerns in a structured, shareable visit agenda. Doctors view the same agenda prior and during the visit, using voice-to-text AI to record the conversation in real time. Each agenda item can be checked off as it’s addressed, with timestamps embedded into the transcript to make review easier for patients afterward.
I designed the full concept solo, using Balsamiq wireframes and early patient interviews to guide layout, logic, and flow. The focus was on clarity, structure, and minimal cognitive load — for both sides of the conversation.
This concept reframed the challenge from translation to communication design. If developed further, it could integrate with existing health records or provide multilingual after-visit summaries — making every minute in the exam room count.
